The minor in Humanitarian Engineering provides students with the opportunity to include insights from health and social sciences and the humanities into their design processes, with a focus on producing assistive technologies for persons living with disabilities. The minor consists of three core and two elective courses. Students may apply for and be admitted to the minor after successful completion of the initial courses (IDS 220 and CBH 377) with a grade of C or better. Students will then select elective courses (assuming prerequisites) and consult with an advisor, to prepare for enrollment in the appropriate Engineering or Engineering Technology Capstone course. Students in these courses will be teamed with students in CBH 450: Impact of Technology on Health, to form multidisciplinary teams to work on design projects.
