The State University of New York Polytechnic Institute is accredited by the Board of Regents of the State of New York. Its academic programs are registered by the State Education Department.

SUNY Polytechnic Institute is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, effective June 23, 2016 (Middle States Commission of Higher Education; 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104-2680; Tel: 267-284-5000). Its educational programs in nursing and health information management are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

The following programs are accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (TAC/ABET): civil engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, computer engineering technology, civil engineering, electrical & computer engineering, mechanical engineering, and nanoscale engineering.

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredits the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute undergraduate degree programs in accounting, business, and graduate programs in technology management (MBA) and accounting (M.S.).
