Services for Students with Disabilities

SUNY Polytechnic Institute welcomes students with disabilities at our Albany and Utica sites. A student with a disability should discuss individual needs with the Director of Disability Services at any time to understand options for academic accommodations and disability services at SUNY Poly. An appointment by phone or in person with the Disability Services Director, (315-792-7170) Utica site, is needed for the consideration, planning, and provision of the necessary support services.

The Disability Services Office assists with the following services: orientation for new and transfer students, regular counseling, individualized advisement and registration, assistive technology training and the determination of academic accommodations based on a student’s documented disability.

The Disability Services staff also serve as a liaison with the New York State Vocational Rehabilitation Service, the New York State Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and other agencies serving or sponsoring the student.

Students with disabilities seeking accessible rooms in the residence halls should contact the Residential Life and Housing Office at 315-792-7810. Students seeking a special housing request should use the special housing form on the Health and Wellness link at www.sunypoly.edu.
