It’s an exciting time in healthcare in the Mohawk Valley, most notably with the recent opening of Mohawk Valley Health System’s (MVHS) Wynn Hospital. Playing a large role in that effort is Deerfield Native Robert Scholefield, who serves as an executive vice president of MVHS.
He stayed local for college, earning his Health Services Management (HSM) Degree from SUNY Poly (then State University of New York College of Technology at Utica-Rome).
“SUNY provided a local opportunity for quality education and accepted all of my credits for transfer from St. Elizabeth College of Nursing,” he explained. “After graduation from Nursing School, I opted to take a direction toward management, so the HSM curriculum fit.”
Scholefield added that the course work, coupled with the local residency related to healthcare administration, provided practical experience.
“SUNY Poly offers a high-quality education, is close by, is a perfect opportunity for the students, and at the same time, it is a valuable asset to the Mohawk Valley region,” he said.
He concludes, “For those wishing to financially support both education and the Mohawk Valley, SUNY Poly provides the perfect opportunity.”
