Why did you choose SUNY Poly?
I choose SUNY Poly because of its size. I came from a school where my graduating class was 50 people, and all the teachers knew who I was. So I knew a large school wasn’t for me. I also wanted a school far from home but not impossible to get back home to.
When did you become interested in your major?
I changed my major in the spring semester of my second year. I mainly chose CID because I was interested in animation, and I thought the content that was taught would be general enough for me to enter a variety of job fields.
Have you had an impactful academic experience on campus?
My impactful moment would have to be freshman year when I was struggling in a class. It was finite math, and it just wasn’t clicking for me. It was during that class I learned how great YouTube was as an educational tool. That moment has stuck with me all four years. Whenever I’m asked to give advice as a college student, I always say to use YouTube when someone is struggling in a class.
What type of clubs or extracurricular activities are you involved in?
I am a resident advisor, student ambassador, and council member on the Club Funding Board.
What has been your favorite class?
I have two classes that are equally my favorite classes. I really enjoyed Intro to Video Production because it was my first time creating and editing videos. I also really enjoyed seeing all the videos everyone made. My other favorite class was Intro to Animation&Vect Graph because it made me really enjoy animating and pointed me toward what I want to do in life.
How would you describe your campus life experience?
I think my best experience has to be living in Oriskany during my freshman year. I have a lot of fond memories of hanging out with my friends. It was also the time before my friends, and I started getting busy because of classes.
What are you going to miss most about your time at SUNY Poly?
I’ll miss walking around and just saying hello to people I know.
