The Career Services office, within SUNY Poly’s Office of Workforce Development, serves as your central hub for professional growth, career exploration, and readiness for what comes next. This integrated approach ensures students are supported from their first semester through graduation and beyond, with a focus on building the skills, experiences, and confidence needed in today’s workforce. The goal? Empowering our students to be career ready from day one.
Career Services partners with students at every stage of their academic journey (not just juniors and seniors) to help translate classroom learning into meaningful career pathways. Whether you are exploring majors, preparing for internships or experiential learning opportunities, seeking employment, or considering graduate school, the office provides personalized support to help you move forward with purpose.
Throughout the year, students engage with employers, alumni, and industry partners through events such as the Career Fair Expo and Industry Spotlights, designed to build connections and expand professional networks. In addition, Career Services offers workshops on employability skills, resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and professional networking, along with access to tools like Handshake, What Can I Do With This Major?, and BigInterview to support job and internship searches and career readiness.

The Office of Workforce Development (OWD) is committed to ensuring students are career-ready from day one. Guided by the mission of connecting education to opportunity, OWD builds partnerships, programs, and experiences that help students develop the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies needed to succeed in an evolving workforce. Through collaboration with employers, alumni, faculty, community organizations, and industry leaders, OWD creates opportunities for students to engage in career-connected learning throughout their academic journey.
OWD supports initiatives that strengthen workforce readiness, including experiential learning opportunities, industry engagement programs, professional development workshops, employer partnerships, internship and career-connected learning initiatives, workforce training programs, and networking opportunities designed to connect students, industry, and community members with professionals across a variety of fields.
Through strategic partnerships and innovative programming, OWD advances a comprehensive talent development ecosystem through three core pillars: Pre-Collegiate Outreach, Career Services, and Continuing Professional Education. As part of the Division of External Relations, OWD collaborates across academic and administrative departments, as well as with industry and community partners, to help students develop the skills, experiences, and professional networks necessary to achieve academic success and thrive in their careers.
