Is SUNY Poly offering pass/fail grading for the spring 2020 semester?

In consideration of extraordinary circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic, SUNY Polytechnic Institute is offering a credit/no credit grading option for Spring 2020.

SUNY Poly students may select a different grading scale for all Spring 2020 classes that are currently on the A/F grade scale.

The new grading scale available (CR/NC) has three grades: High Pass, Pass or No Credit. Grades recorded on this grading scale have no impact on a student’s GPA.

Faculty will provide a grade on the A/F grade scale for all students by May 12, 2020. Students can request that their grade be recorded on the CR/NC scale at any time, either prior to or AFTER they receive a grade on the A/F scale.

After students request a course grade be recorded on the CR/NC scale, they will be advised about the implications of their request. For example, the CR/NC scale may not satisfy the requirements that some courses in a major require a specific grade. Additionally, choosing a CR/NC grading mode may have implications for eligibility for financial aid.
