SUNY Poly was among three area college curling teams that competed in the sixth annual USA Curling National Championships in Eau Claire, Wisconsin this winter.
The Championships were held March 9-11 with curling teams from SUNY Poly, Colgate University and Hamilton College all taking part.

Among the Top 16 college curling teams in the U.S. invited to play in the National Championship event, the SUNY Poly team roster for the championship was made up of Blake Hagberg, Jeremy Zang, Luke Sanders, Daniel Coletta, and Aaron Bailey.

SUNY Poly won three games in the tournament, advancing to the championship round when they defeated Harvard in a tie breaker match 10-2. In their quarter final game against number one seeded University of Pennsylvania, SUNY Poly was defeated in a close match 6-5 eliminating them from competition.

All three of the local teams curl out of the Utica Curling Club, which conducts one of the largest college programs in the country.
