To commemorate the annual mathematical holiday known as “Pi Day,” SUNY Poly’s Albany campus at the College for Nanoscale Science and Engineering hosted 80 High School juniors from the Bronx Academy for Software Engineering.

The students were provided with educational, Pi-themed activities, some slices of pies, as well as a tour of the institution’s state-of-the-art facilities and information about SUNY Poly’s academic opportunities on Wednesday, March 14.

The mathematical constant Pi, commonly approximated as 3.14159, is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter and is often represented by the Greek symbol π.

Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 because the date reflects the ratio: 3/14 or 3.14.
