Artwork on display at the 2017 Collegiate Art Exhibit in the Gannett Gallery.

An upcoming exhibit at SUNY Poly spotlighting the artwork of students from colleges across central New York is currently looking for submissions.

The vision for the Collegiate Art Exhibit is to adhere to the highest standards of quality, seeking beautifully executed work and valuing innovative artwork that presents the artist’s unique style and engages the viewer intellectually, emotionally, and visually.

Works will be judged on the basis of originality, technical quality, and depth. The exhibit will be judged by a professional panel of jurors within the arts field and based on overall artistic excellence determined by presence of composition/design/focal point, use of color, creativity, feeling, and choice of subject matter.

Student artists who wish to submit their work, must do so in-person at the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Gannett Gallery at 100 Seymour Road in Utica on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, March 26-28 between Noon and 4 p.m.  A team of professional art and media specialists will select the student artwork that best represents the vision of the exhibition. Students from upstate New York area colleges may enter up to two pieces of art in a ready-to-display format not exceeding 20 pounds.

Those interested in submitting can email Lynne Browne at lynne.browne@sunyit.edu or call 315-792-7830 to set up a day and indicate a time frame that they would like to drop off artwork.

A juried art exhibition, The Collegiate Art Exhibit, now in its second year, will run from April 2-30 in the Gannett Gallery with an opening reception will be held Thursday, April 5 at 4:30 p.m.
