Sessions on time management, stress management, study skills, and financial management are explored. Strategic reading and lecture notes, test taking and wellness activities are also addressed to assist students in meeting the academic demands of college life. Community service and civic responsibility are also addressed.<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>FYS 102\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Academic Success (1)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This course helps students reinforce the universal foundations of academic success including critical thinking, study skills and time management. Additionally, helps students discover and benefit from their own individual strengths and experience. This course is designed to be a step forward toward a more rewarding academic career and students will produce a personalized compelling life plan to set and reach goals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FYS 111\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Topics for First Year Seminar (1)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To assist in first-time full-time students in their academic and social transition, this course will focus on topics and discussions that enhance academic learning. FYS 111 focuses on the development of critical thinking and acquisition of information literacy skills. Special emphasis is given to questions, methods, and college options relating to an area of academic or thematic (skill-based) interest.
