New student orientation, advisement and registration
Once new students deposit at SUNYIT, they are required to participate in the online SUNYIT Essentials Program. Each student will receive a program tailored to their program and level (freshmen, undergraduate, or graduate) with overviews on the following areas: Introduction to SUNYIT, tips for success, SUNYIT email and SITNET ID information, fast facts about many campus offices, and much more.
As students complete the online SUNYIT Essentials Program completion survey, they will be eligible to register for classes in consultation with an advisor. Registration can be completed online 24/7 or through the Registrar’s Office during business hours.
New students are required to attend the Orientation Program offered at the start of every term. Programs for both Transfer and First Year students will be held a few days prior to the first day of classes each semester. Resident students will move into their dorms prior to the start of the programs. During Orientation, students have the opportunity to begin making positive connections with peers, faculty and staff. Activities for each program include:
- Orientation to college services, social life, residence life, athletics, leadership opportunities, and recreation programs.
- An overview of academic expectations, meetings with your academic advisor, and information on career services.
