{"id":72,"date":"2013-02-26T14:52:06","date_gmt":"2013-02-26T19:52:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sunyit.edu\/apps\/catalog\/undergrad\/financial-aid\/students-rights-and-responsibilities\/"},"modified":"2013-02-26T14:52:06","modified_gmt":"2013-02-26T19:52:06","slug":"rights-responsibilities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/webapp.sunypoly.edu\/undergrad-catalog-2013-2014\/financial-aid\/rights-responsibilities\/","title":{"rendered":"Students\u2019 Rights and Responsibilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You have the right to ask a school:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">The names of its accrediting and licensing organizations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">About its programs; its instructional, laboratory, and other physical facilities; and its faculty.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">What the cost of attending is, and what its policy is on refunds to students who drop out.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">What financial assistance is available, including information on all federal, state, local, private, and institutional financial aid programs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">What procedures and deadlines are for submitting applications for each available financial aid program.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">What criteria it uses to select financial aid recipients.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">How it determines your financial need. This process includes how costs for tuition and fees, room and board, travel, books and supplies, and personal and miscellaneous expenses are considered in your cost of education. It also includes the resources considered in calculating your need.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">How much of your financial need, as determined by the institution, has been met.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">How and when you will be paid.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">To explain each type and amount of assistance in your financial aid package.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">What the interest rate is on any student loan that you have, the total amount you must repay, the length of time you have to repay, when you must start repaying, and what cancellation\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">or deferment provisions apply.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">If you are offered a Federal College Work Study job\u2014what kind of job it is, what hours you must work, what your duties will be, what the rate of pay will be and how and when you will be paid.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">To reconsider your aid package if you believe a mistake has been made, or if your enrollment or financial circumstances have changed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">How the college determines whether you are making satisfactory progress, and what happens if you are not.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">What special facilities and services are available to the handicapped.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It is your responsibility to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">Review and consider all information about a school\u2019s program before you enroll.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">Pay special attention to your application for student financial aid, complete it accurately, and submit it on time to the right place. Errors can delay or prevent your receiving aid.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">Know and comply with all deadlines for applying or reapplying for aid.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">Provide all additional documentation, verification, corrections, and\/or new information requested by either the Financial Aid Office or the agency to which you submitted your application.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">Read, understand, and keep copies of all forms you are asked to sign.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">Repay any student loans you have. When you sign a promissory note, you are agreeing to repay your loan.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">Notify your school of a change in your name, address, or attendance status. If you have a loan, you must also notify your lender of these changes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">Satisfactorily perform the work agreed upon in a Federal College Work Study job.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">Understand your college\u2019s refund policy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">Maintain good academic standing to retain your eligibility for financial aid.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You have the right to ask a school: The names of its accrediting and licensing organizations.
