In accordance with State University policy, medical insurance is mandatory for all full-time<\/b> students and all students in programs that require clinicals or internships. The charge for medical insurance purchased by the University will be added to the student\u2019s account each semester unless he\/she is able to provide SUNYIT with proof of insurance coverage and fill out a Medical Insurance Waiver Form prior to attendance. It is the student\u2019s responsibility to insure that the waiver form is on file, as the charge becomes final on the last day to waive. Waiver forms will then no longer be accepted and the student is responsible for the payment of the insurance fee. Part-time student<\/b>s may purchase coverage if they so desire.<\/b> Waiver forms must be submitted on the Web.<\/p>\n

If you have Medical Insurance information with you when you web register:<\/b><\/p>\n

  1. Press the Medical Insurance Waiver link at the bottom of the Registration Page,<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Complete the <\/span>Medical Insurance Waiver Form<\/i>,<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Press <\/span>SUBMIT\/Wait for message: \u201cYour waiver has been successfully submitted.\u201d\n

    <\/i>The cost of Student Medical Insurance will be deducted from your bill after approval by Health Center Director.<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If you have already registered but have not yet done\u00a0your waiver on the web:<\/b><\/p>\n

    1. Go to SUNYIT\u2019s Home Page on the web: <\/span>www.sunyit.edu<\/i><\/a>,<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Select <\/span>Campus Intranet<\/i> in the Quick Links menu,<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Select <\/span>Enter Secure Area<\/i>,<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Enter your user ID and PIN,<\/span><\/li>\n
    5. Press <\/span>LOG IN<\/i>,<\/span><\/li>\n
    6. SUNYIT Information<\/i> Main Menu will appear,<\/span><\/li>\n
    7. Select <\/span>Personal Information Menu<\/i>,<\/span><\/li>\n
    8. Select <\/span>Health Insurance Waiver<\/i>,<\/span><\/li>\n
    9. Fully complete the waiver form,<\/span><\/li>\n
    10. Press <\/span>SUBMIT\/Wait for message: \u201cYour waiver has been successfully submitted.<\/i>\u201d\n

      <\/span>The cost of Student Medical Insurance will be deducted from your bill after approval by Health Center Director.<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Medical Insurance premium is not automatically refunded. When a student drops below full time, written request for refund will be accepted at the Business Office. After the last day to add for the semester, no further refunds of insurance will be allowed.<\/p>\n

      All international students <\/b>(domestic students traveling abroad under an exchange program, or foreign students attending college in the U.S. on a student visa) must purchase International Student Medical Insurance <\/b>regardless of whether they are full- or part-time. International students, who have been issued an I-20 from\u00a0SUNYIT, must be covered the entire time they remain in the U.S., whether attending classes or remaining in the country during summer break. Exemption from participation in the plan may be granted only in very few and specific circumstances.<\/p>\n

      Since both the international and domestic insurance plans are obtained through prior arrangement with insurance agencies independent of the State University of New York, cost per year is variable based on experience rating for the program. Students will be charged the appropriate rate at the time they begin attendance. Those graduating in December should contact the Health Center and Business Office in advance of registration. Current rates are as follows, but are subject to change annually:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

      International Student Insurance(both full- and part-time students)<\/em><\/td>\n$1,113 per year*<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
