{"id":1770,"date":"2023-11-09T08:53:18","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T13:53:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp.sunypoly.edu\/stories\/?p=1770"},"modified":"2025-11-04T10:33:13","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T15:33:13","slug":"elizabeth-ellis-16-communication-and-information-design","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp.sunypoly.edu\/stories\/elizabeth-ellis-16-communication-and-information-design\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Liz Ellis \u201916: Communication and Information Design<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>Each weekday, local listeners start their day with Liz Ellis, whose morning show, <em>Listen It\u2019s Liz<\/em>, is broadcasted on 97.9\/105.5 KISS FM.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Utica native and Communication &amp; Information Design major, who graduated in 2016, is also the Promotions Director for Roser Communications which includes KISS FM, Bug Country, and TALK 100.7 FM.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cI handle the planning of all station events, giveaways, and promotions,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m also the director of \u2018Stuff the Bus,\u2019 a local toy drive that collects thousands of toys every holiday season for local kids.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Ellis said she chose SUNY Poly after getting her Associate\u2019s Degree locally, as she knew she wanted to stay home, but also wanted to expand her education.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1771\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp.sunypoly.edu\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/387326905_632272762443478_258290603840264153_n-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Liz Ellis in the studio. \" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/webapp.sunypoly.edu\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/387326905_632272762443478_258290603840264153_n-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/webapp.sunypoly.edu\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/387326905_632272762443478_258290603840264153_n-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/webapp.sunypoly.edu\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/387326905_632272762443478_258290603840264153_n-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/webapp.sunypoly.edu\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/387326905_632272762443478_258290603840264153_n.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cThe Communication and Information Design major was what really drew me to SUNY Poly,\u201d she explained. \u201cI knew I wanted to learn more about marketing and advertising and how to potentially walk into an advertising agency after college. While attending SUNY Poly, I began working part-time for the company that I currently work for and knew that if I wanted to bring anything to the table, I needed to keep learning.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Ellis said she loved her time at SUNY Poly, and that the methods she was taught, whether it be looking at a project, client, or a problem, are still used by her to this day.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cMy professors also made my time there enjoyable,\u201d she said. \u201cMany of them worked in the marketing and advertising field, which highlighted all the different career opportunities one could potentially have after graduating.
