When you walk into the Wildcat Den, SUNY Poly\u2019s campus store, you\u2019re greeted by the friendly face of Jessaca DiPrimo.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
DiPrimo began working at the campus store as a student ambassador in the Fall of 2021, and over time, was promoted to assistant campus store manager. Each morning the Little Falls native commutes to campus with her mother Diana, an administrative assistant in the student affairs and enrollment office, who prior to her current role, spent over a decade working in auxiliary services with the same colleagues her daughter now works with.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\u201cI love working with the team here,\u201d said DiPrimo, who will be full-time in the role starting this fall. \u201cI definitely knew that there was a good work environment, as many of the members of auxiliary services have known me since I was a kid. I definitely came into this job knowing that I wanted to stay with it, even after I graduated.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\u201cI like not having a routine, coming into work and being open to whatever the day brings,\u201d DiPrimo added. \u201cMy tasks change daily and I like that every once in a while, I have the opportunity to chat with the different members of our team.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
When deciding on colleges, DiPrimo knew she wanted to stay local. Having worked at a pizzeria back in Little Falls and often handling a lot of items on the business end, DiPrimo eventually decided to major in business administration, with a minor in human resources.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
The courses she\u2019s taken through her major, such as accounting and marketing have developed skills, she says she uses daily. DiPrimo notes that the accounting classes are useful in understanding costs and allocations, while the marketing skills are put to use in various efforts to promote campus store sales, etc. through various channels.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
In addition to friends and colleagues she\u2019s made at SUNY Poly, DiPrimo has appreciated the relationships she had with professors as a result of the university\u2019s smaller class sizes.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\u201cAnytime I ever had questions, my professors were always there to help me,\u201d said DiPrimo, \u201cand it was also nice to have the same professors for a lot of the different business classes.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
While the Wildcat Den is where she plans to be in the immediate future, DiPrimo also enjoyed the HR classes she took to obtain her minor.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\u201cHR really interests me, like staffing and benefits, all of that kind of stuff,\u201d she said. \u201cSo, ultimately that\u2019s my main goal, to hopefully work in HR someday.\u201d<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
