Future engineers show their stuff at annual tech showcase

DSC_6950aSumo robots, wind turbines, catapults, and robots scurrying across the floor of the Wildcat Field House – science came alive March 9 at the 16th Annual Mohawk Valley Technology Education & Pre-Engineering Showcase.

Presented by Indium Corporation and organization in collaboration with the Mohawk Valley Technology and Engineering Education Association, the event is filled with exciting competitions, displays, and collaborations among more than 400 middle and high school students, using technology and engineering to innovate and build skills.

The numerous activities to found at the Showcase included local middle and high school students displaying impressive class projects and participate in STEM competitions such as Computer Aided Design (CAD), Balsa Bridges, KidWind, Robotics and more; CO2 car races, junkyard wars, newsprint structures and catapult contests; area technology-related businesses and organizations showing off the career opportunities that exist in the Mohawk Valley, as well as representatives from colleges across New York State with technology-related programs talking with students about future academic pursuits.
