The holiday season is a time to reach out and think about how we can lend a hand to others.

And for volunteers from SUNY Poly, lending a proverbial hand meant putting their literal hands to work wrapping gifts for others to raise money for abandoned animals.

Organized by the SUNY Poly Holiday Luncheon Committee, gift-wrapping sessions were held at Barnes and Noble in New Hartford over the course of two days in an effort to raise funds for Angels of Fur K-9 Rescue in Rome.

A group of volunteer dog lovers, Angels of Fur in Rome rescues, educate, provide sanctuary, and ultimately to re-home abandoned, stray and neglected dogs. All the dogs they take in are housed in foster homes where they are provided with an enormous amount of love and any medical attention that may be required to insure that they are in good health before adoption. All dogs are spayed or neutered and brought up-to-date on shots, as well as undergoing house-training and basic obedience while in Angels of Fur’s care before being placed in their new homes.

Covering various shifts at the gift-wrapping station over the course of December 12 and 13 were several SUNY Poly volunteers, including Stacey Genther, Samantha Vivirito, Amanda Sagendorf, Connie Castellano, Pam Palazzo, Roxanne Mutchler, Audra Cornelius, Daniel Eddy, and Zora Thomova.
