SUNY Poly Curling Club seeking new members

October 2016

suny-poly-curling-club-in-actionDespite last year being its debut year competing on the ice, the SUNY Poly Curling Club managed to become the 4th ranked College Curling team in the country, beating out the likes of Yale, MIT, RIP, Harvard, and many other prestigious universities. The team qualified for USA Curling Nationals in Chaska, Minnesota and won the Gold Medal Round Robin.

Now, the team is back and actively looking for new members to join in the fun and success.

“This season we have high ambitions and a great chance to represent our college against universities nationwide,” said SUNY Poly Curling Club President Scott Murray. “Plans have already been made to attend many curling competitions around the country. If you like the idea of traveling around the country representing SUNY Poly, working as a team, and just having fun in general, this club is for you!”

In their efforts to recruit new members, the SUNY Poly Curling Club is hosting a Learn to Curl event October 16 from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. at the Utica Curling Club, 8300 Clark Mills Road in Whitesboro.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to visit the following link where they can fill out a form to be added to the mailing list.

Murray says rides will be made available to the Utica Curling Club for those who do not have  vehicles on campus.

“Remember, our team was composed of all newbies last year and we did great,” Murray says. “Don’t let your lack of curling knowledge stop you from getting involved in our club!”
