Wildcats Win NEAC Athletic Directors Cup

The SUNY Poly Wildcats have been awarded the NEAC’s Athletic Directors Cup for Athletic Success after an astounding 2015-16 campaign by all of the Wildcats 12 NEAC sponsored sports teams. The Wildcats won three NEAC Championships, three regular season titles, and had two teams go on to the NCAA Tournament.

Below is an excerpt from the NEAC’s Press release explaining the math behind the Athletic Directors Cup.

“The Athletics Directors’ Cup is awarded for athletics success, which is based on each institution’s overall winning percentage from the past academic year.  This percentage is calculated through a points system that takes into account each school’s finish in the final regular season standings for each team sport, as well as the championship finish for each individual sport sponsored within the NEAC.  SUNY Polytechnic Institute was the winner of this year’s Athletics Directors’ Cup after accumulating a .774 winning percentage by earning 90.5 out of a possible 117 points across its 12 NEAC-sponsored sports.  The SUNY Poly Wildcat women’s programs tallied a conference-best .767 winning percentage after earning 46 out of a possible 60 points, while the men’s programs placed second after totaling 44.5 out of a possible 57 points for a .781 winning percentage to help claim the cup.  Morrisville State topped the men’s standings with a .918 winning percentage after tallying 45 out of a possible 49 points, along with placing third in the women’s standings with a .648 winning percentage (41.5/64) to finish second in the overall standings at .766 (86.5/113).  Penn State Berks placed third overall with a .696 winning percentage (80/115), as the Nittany Lions’ women’s programs placed second at .750 (45/60) and the men’s programs placed fourth at .636 (35/55).”
