Psych/Soc Club raises $10,000 for CABVI

August 2016

Before the end of the Spring semester, the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Psychology/Sociology Club presented a check for $10,000 for the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) Camp Abilities youth program.

The money was raised through 13th Annual Benefit Dinner held by the club each year to raise funds for an organization and cause. The 2016 Psychology and Sociology Club Benefit Dinner was held March 18 at Danielle’s Banquet Specialists, honoring Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi and noted alumna Iris Buczkowski.

Members of the Club presented representatives from CABVI with the check at a April 28th ceremony in the Mele Room of the Cayan Libary in Utica.

This year, the event’s proceeds will benefit the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired Camp Abilities program, which empowers children with visual loss to remain physically active, participate in leisure activities, engage in physical education classes, use technology and develop independent living skills that will last a lifetime.

Student members of the Psychology & Sociology Club have raised more than $130,000 for various non-profit organizations since the club’s inception.
