2016 Health and Wellness Expo

The 2016 Health and Wellness Expo underway in the Campus Center Gym at SUNY Poly in Utica.

More than 120 dynamic presentations and exhibits featuring a myriad of local agencies and area nursing students discussing a variety of health topics were all on hand for the 2016 Health and Wellness Expo.

The theme for this year’s event was Discover Your Reward: Explore the Wellness Spectrum, with vendors offering attendees information on a number of topics that included holistic health, reflexology, massage, gerontology services, extended care, physical fitness, nutrition, environmental health, smoking cessation, tobacco control, substance use/abuse, pregnancy, mental health, health insurance and sexual health/STD prevention.

Aside from a wealth of knowledge and information, attendees were given access to free assessments and screenings such as blood pressure, vision screenings, oxygen saturation, fitness BMI, and mental health screening, as well as Tdap, flu and pneumonia vaccinations.

Chair massages, Tae Kwon Do demonstrations, free food samples, and giveaways were also a part of the fun.

In addition, the SUNY Poly Student Association and Campus Life office held a blood drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross.

Sponsored by SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s Health & Wellness Center and the Central New York DDSOO Employee Assistance Program, the wellness expo was held in the Campus Center gymnasium at SUNY Poly in Utica and was free and open to the public.
