SUNY Poly Curling Club attends Nationals

April 2016

2016 Curling Club Nationals - 02The SUNY Poly Curling Club went 3-1 (win-loss) at the USA College Curling Nationals held March 11-13 in Chaska, Minnesota. The team won the round robin against Harvard, Oklahoma, and RIT, placing them in the Gold Metal Bracket.

Sadly, SUNY Poly lost against UPenn in the semifinals, which eliminated them from the bracket. UPenn was the first place finisher, and the 2016 USA College Curling Champions.

“The SUNY Poly Curling Club is a first year club playing out of the Utica Curling Club. It was an amazing feat for a first year club to make it to nationals and we were the only new club there,” said Scott Murray, Vice President of the SUNY Poly Curling Club. “Curling is becoming very popular in the US, and the sport is becoming more and more competitive. We hope our club here at SUNY continues to grow on campus.”
Anyone interested in joining the club for their 2016-2017 season can contact the club to get their email put on a mailing list. More information will be sent out this September, when the next season starts.
