Celebrate Women’s History Month with a special exhibit spotlighting award-winning women artists in the Gannett Art Gallery in Kunsela Hall.

“Art by Women: Constance Avery & Marietta Raposo” opened to the public on Thursday, March 3, 2016 and runs through April 1, 2016.

Avery was a LPN (licensed practical nurse) for many years before returning to college to pursue her first love, painting. She is hearing impaired and legally blind but does not allow her challenges to impede her artistic journey. A graduate of MVCC and Empire State College, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art. Connie’s studies focused on painting, photography and pottery. Her paintings are symbolic of her unique visual perceptions throughout her travels. More information on Avery can be found at averyfinearts.com.

Raposo is one of the original members of the Rome Art And Community Center night painters and the Sylvan Beach Gang.

The Gannett Gallery is open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
