On Point for College honors Rit Fuller
For more than 15 years, the organization known as On Point for College has helped more than 5,500 first-generation youth get into college, stay there, and succeed afterwards.
A large part of that success rate comes from the help of those in the trenches of the college community – people such as SUNY Poly’s own Richard “Rit” Fuller.
Fuller, the Vice President of Enrollment Management at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica, has served as an informal ambassador between the institution and On Point for College.
“We want the same thing – to give good students from the Mohawk Valley opportunities to gain a high-quality education,” Fuller said.
Starting part-time at SUNY Poly in the Fall of 2012, Fuller became full-time Vice President of Enrollment Management one year later. He brought with him a wealth of experience, including the enrollment consulting business he had for a decade, time as Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Hamilton College, Director of Admissions at Johns Hopkins University, as well as Director of Admissions at Rochester Institute of Technology.
At a ceremony this past Fall at Danielle’s on Seneca Turnpike in New Hartford, Fuller was honored for his commitment to helping On Point for College open the door to higher education for inner city youth, break down barriers that hinder potential students from entering college, and provide support that empowers them to succeed.
“I am honored to be affiliated with an organization that changes people’s lives,” he said, adding that he hopes to continue serving as a conduit between On Point for College students and the many opportunities that exist at SUNY Poly.
“Together, we can make an even greater contribution to these students and our community.”
