Student clubs plan 12th annual fundraiser

Three student clubs at SUNY Polytechnic’s Utica campus are organizing a benefit for the Johnson Park Center in Utica. The 12th annual benefit dinner, sponsored by the Psychology and Sociology, West Indian and African, and Veterans Clubs, will be held Friday, March 20, 6 p.m., at Daniele’s Banquet Hall in New Hartford. The event will include dinner, entertainment and raffles/auctions. Event organizers will also honor Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente, Execellus BCBS Regional President Eve Van de Wal, and political analyst-pollster John Zogby.

Johnson Park headquartersThe Johnson Park Center, founded in 1995, has worked to revitalize the Johnson Park-Cornhill community in central Utica through the promotion of positive change and community development. Johnson Park provides emergency and supportive housing, and other community services including a food pantry, a youth center, and mentoring and advocacy programs.

Tickets for the event are $45 for the general public, $35 for SUNY Poly alumni, $25 for students. Over the past ten years, SUNY Poly student clubs have raised more than $100,000 from this annual event in support of area non-profit organizations.
