Area students to take part in March 12 Tech Showcase

SUNY Poly’s Utica campus will welcome students from two dozen school districts and the public to the 14th annual Mohawk Valley Technology Education and Pre-Engineering Showcase Thursday, March 12, 1-6 p.m., in the Wildcat Field House. The event, presented by Indium Corporation and organized in collaboration with the Mohawk Valley Technology and Engineering Education Association, will include student technology displays, student technology competitions, business and industry displays, and upstate New York college admissions information.

Elizabeth Rossi“Student demonstrations and displays this year include turbines, autonomous vehicles, and video design,” says Elizabeth Rossi, event coordinator. “Student competitions will include several applied math/science events, such as computer-aided design, catapults, CO2 car races, robotics, and more.”

Rossi said representatives from area colleges and companies such as Indium and the NYS DOT will also feature displays intended to inspire students to consider engineering and technology college and career paths. Families and friends are welcome to attend. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be available.
