Utica campus volunteers clean up Delta Lake State Park
As the spring semester was winding down, dozens of student, faculty and staff volunteers prepared for summer by cleaning up Delta Lake State Park near Rome. Taking part in the campus effort were biology faculty and students, members of the Wildcat Cares club and the Campus Life office.
“It was a good success. We had 34 volunteers from the Utica campus, 16 of them from the Wildcat Cares student club, plus five family members,” said Mark Bremer, lecturer in biology and coordinator of the Utica campus Green Team. “The park manager wants us to come back again next spring, and we’re invited to a trail maintenance day in the fall.”
May 3 was the third annual statewide “I Love My Park Day,” organized by the Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) and Parks & Trails New York (PTNY). There were more than 80 participating state parks and historic sites across the state.
