Getting ready for fall semester

August 2014

Faculty and staff on the Utica campus of the newly merged CNSE/SUNYIT are preparing to welcome new and returning students as the start of a new academic year is just days away. Here’s a sample of upcoming events and activities.

Campus ropes course

Time on the campus ropes course is part of every freshman orientation.

* The summer program for Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) students began August 13 and continues through August 21.

* New transfer and graduate student orientation will be held Friday, August 15, in the Student Center. The program, for new degree transfer and graduate students starting classes in the fall 2014 semester, begins at 8:30 a.m. and will include meetings with faculty, academic advisement and registration.

* Incoming freshmen—members of the Class of 2018—and their parents will be getting to know the campus better during orientation August 21-24. A record number of freshmen are projected to attend this fall.

* Classes start Monday, August 25.

* The traditional “all-campus” meeting for faculty and staff is Tuesday, August 26, noon, in the Student Center multipurpose room
