Kristina Boylan, associate professor of history, chaired the “Christian Activism in a Global World” panel at the Berkshire Conference of Women Historians, May 21-25, Toronto, Canada.

Elizabeth Campbell, associate professor of nursing, presented “Project-based Service Learning: Interpersonal Violence Prevention Health Fair” at the Drexel University Nursing Education Institute, June 16-17, Myrtle Beach, S.C. This presentation was made possible through financial support from State of New York/United University Professions–Joint Labor Management Committee-Individual Development Award Program.

Andrea Dziubek, assistant professor of applied mathematics presented  at the 11th World Conference on Computational Mechanics Workshop/Minisymposium on Computational Modeling of Multiphysics/Multiscale Coupled Processes in Biological and Nanotechnological Systems, July 20-25, Barcelona, Spain.

Robert Edgell, assistant professor of management, presented “A sociotechnological theory of discursive change and entrepreneurial capacity: Novelty and networks” and chaired the Institutions, Entrepreneurship, and Policy session at the Academy of Management’s 74th annual meeting, August 1-5, Philadelphia, Pa.

Lorraine Kane, associate professor of health information management, attended the New York Health Information Association meeting, June 1-4, Albany.

Firas Khasawneh, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, presented at the U.S. National Congress on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, June 8-20, Lansing, Mich.

Jennifer Klimek-Yingling, assistant professor of nursing; Kathleen Marollo, clinical instructor/coordinator; and Ildiko Monahan, instructor of nursing, attended the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties conference, April 1-7, Denver, Colo.

Mary Krenitsky Perrone, associate professor of communication and humanities; Joanne M. Joseph, professor of psychology; Veronica Jaris Tichenor, associate professor of sociology; and Alexander Bulson, adjunct instructor in communication presented “Enhanced Student Performance as Evidenced by Partnering Writing Facilitation with Courses in the Disciplines” at The Assessment Network of New York conference, April 29, Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, N.Y.

Jerome Niyirora, assistant professor of health information management, attended the Faculty Development Institute/Assembly on Education Annual Symposium, July 26-30, Chicago, Ill.

Sala Qazi, professor emeritus, presented “Green Technology for Disaster Relief and Remote Areas” at the 2014 American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) Annual Conference, June 15-18, Indianapolis, Ind., and “Nanotechnology: Demystifying the Myth,” May 12, at the Rotary Club of Lexington Park, Md.

Rafael Romero, associate professor of finance, presented at the Global Conference on Business and Finance, May 26-31, San Jose, Costa Rica.

Kathryn Stam, associate professor of anthropology, received a scholarship from the Empowering Network for International Thai and ASEAN Studies (ENITAS) for research related to her paper, “The Content and Meaning of Northeast Thai Memorial Books in Contemporary Life,” which she presented at “Harmony and Diversity in ASEAN Culture Research Presentations” at Chulalongkorn University, June 4-7, Bangkok, Thailand. She was also invited to become a Faculty Associate in Research (FAR) at the Southeast Asia Program at Cornell University. The program is designed to forge collaborative relationships and provide access to specialized library collections.
