Gannett Gallery features Black History Month exhibit
In celebration of Black History Month, a solo art exhibition entitled “Variations on a Theme: Quilt Series Plates Ceramics by David MacDonald” is on display in the Gannett Gallery through February 26.
The artist, David MacDonald, is a faculty member of the School of Art and Design at Syracuse University who says his work in ceramic forms receives most of its creative inspiration from an investigation of his African heritage. MacDonald received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) in 2011. His work is in the permanent collections of the Studio Museum in Harlem, Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, and Montclair Art Museum, New Jersey.
The Gannett Gallery is located on the first floor of Kunsela Hall. Gallery hours are Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. For more information please call 315-792-7819.
