Firas KhasawehFiras Khasawneh, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, attended Manufacturing Days sponsored by DMG Mori, November 11-17, 2013, Davis, Calif. He also attended the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications workshop, February 10-14, Minneapolis, Minn.

Zhanjie LiZhanjie Li, assistant professor of civil engineering, attended the American Iron and Steel Institute committee meeting, February 17-20, New Orleans, La.

Kathryn StamKathryn Stam, associate professor of anthropology, presented “Yogurt and Black Jack: Refugees and Employment in Central New York” at the American Anthropological Association annual meetings, November 22-24, 2013, Chicago, Ill.

Stam and Lindsey Kingston, an adjunct who teaches in social and behavioral sciences, participated in the National Science Lindsey KingstonFoundation-sponsored “Workshop on Robust Socio-Technical Architectures in Support of Displaced Persons,” December 4-5, 2013, Cape Town, South Africa. Stam’s contribution was entitled “Framework for Determining Cultural Barriers and Opportunities for Information Systems for Displaced People.”

Zora ThomovaStam and Zora Thomova co-curated a women’s travel photography exhibit called “No Foreign Lands,” in the Gannett Gallery November 7 – December 18, 2013.
