Nursing conference on campus next week

SUNYIT will present “Threading a Nursing Legacy into the 21st Century,” a program for nurses, nurse practitioners, nursing students, and interested health care professionals, Wednesday, April 24, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., in the Wildcat Field House.

Loretta FordThe keynote speaker will be internationally renowned nursing leader Loretta C. Ford, creator and implementer of the first nurse practitioner model and training program. Ford, who began her nursing career in 1942, is credited with transforming the profession of nursing and making health care more accessible to the general public. She  holds the following degrees: Ed. D., University of Colorado School of Education; M.S. and B.S., In 1949, Ford received her B.S. from the University of Colorado, School of Nursing, and in 1951, she obtained her M.S. from the same university.

Sessions will focus on a variety of topics, and the event has been submitted to the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association for approval to award American Nurses Credentialing Center contact hours. For registration information, visit mohawkvalleynpa.enpnetwork.com or call 315-792-7819.
