Provost’s Lecture Series January 25

The next installment in the Provost’s Lecture Series is Friday, January 25, noon-2 p.m., in Donovan Hall, Rm. G152. Timothy Busch, assistant professor in the engineering, science and mathematics department, will present “Out of Control: A discussion on the application of control theory to complex systems.”

Abstract:  Control theory has been successfully applied to a wide variety of systems to achieve stability, robustness and, in many cases, optimal performance. In this presentation, we will discuss some of the major challenges in the design and control of complex systems.

Busch holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Binghamton University in the area of control theory applied to laser communication systems. A senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), he is also an associate editor for the journal IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (Part C).
