NYS-Balance
Not Enough Hours in the Day? Being Efficient at Work and Home
NYS Balance is available for employees represented by CSEA, PEF, UUP, DC-37, NYSCOPBA, GSEU, and Council 82, and M/C. NYS-Balance is the free, confidential resource and referral service. You can call a NYS-Balance consultant anytime to find available resources nationwide, for anyone in your family.

Each month, NYS-Balance features a new topic on the website. A corresponding webinar, multiple online resources, and free educational materials can be accessed anytime by calling the toll-free number, 866-320-4760 (TTY/TTD 866-228-2809), or by logging on to the website, www.nysbalance.ny.gov. The username is nys and the password is balance.

•    Maximizing Your Day: Effective Time Management  Learn time management processes and characteristics of effective time managers. Discover the importance of prioritizing important events, and explore the role of delegation. This webinar will assist you with mapping your growth in the short and long term. The webinar is scheduled for January 17, from noon to 1 p.m. To register, log on to www.nysbalance.ny.gov. You will find the webinar description and where to register in the center of the homepage. You must register in advance.  If the time of the live webinar does not mesh with your approved lunch or scheduled break time, you can access the archived webinar from home or during another lunch or scheduled break time approved by your supervisor.

•    Time: Where It Goes  Do you know where your time goes? Keeping track of how you spend your time for a few days can help you figure out what you are doing well and what you would like to change. You may be surprised to learn how much time you spend doing trivial things that really do not matter. To read this article, click on the advanced search box and type the words “Time Management” into the Search Website by Title box and scroll down to the article.

•    Time Management Skill Builder Are you haunted by the feeling that your days are going faster and faster? Is your life an endless procession of Monday, Friday, Monday, Friday, and where did the weekend go, anyway? Time, our most valuable and transient resource, is either used or lost. Maybe it’s time you took control of the situation. To complete the time management exercise, type “Time Management Skill Builder” into the Search Website by Title box.

Rights of Nursing Mothers to Express Breast Milk in the Work Place
Employees are allowed to use unpaid break time or use paid break time or meal time each day to express breast milk for nursing of a child for up to three years following child birth.  For more information please contact Human Resources.
