Staff member involved in Sandy recovery effort

Steve Perta, associate for instructional resources, was one of three area pilots who trained U.S. Air Force Auxiliary-Civil Air Patrol crews flying photo missions for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Steve (below, left) and other members of the Civil Air Patrol’s New York Wing aerial imagery team spent a weekend at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey recently, training crews in the preparation and use of digital cameras and GPS equipment. Steve is a lieutenant colonel in the Civil Air Patrol’s New York Wing and serves as the wing’s director of communications.
