It delves into the power system of New York State, providing a localized perspective on these essential topics. The curriculum covers the complexities of the day-ahead and capacity reserve markets, focusing on how independent system operators schedule power production across various generating units to meet electricity demand efficiently. Emphasizing the importance of optimization, the course highlights its role as a vital tool for effective energy planning and decision-making.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The course is designed for students interested in gaining an understanding of the power sector and the impact of renewable energies on energy prices and sector sustainability.
