Alumni and friends created the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Foundation, Inc. to help preserve and enhance the distinctive qualities of SUNY Poly’s educational programs. Chartered in 1974, the Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation organized under New York State law and recognized as tax-exempt by the Internal Revenue Service (EIN 23-7412413). It exists solely to support SUNY Poly and its students and faculty by promoting, receiving, investing, and distributing private gifts. These funds are used to award scholarships, acquire essential equipment, and support other campus priorities and initiatives.

The Foundation’s Board of Directors is composed of representatives from the local community, alumni, administration, faculty, staff, and the student body. Together, they oversee the Foundation’s property, business affairs, and long-term fiscal health.
