The maximum a student can apply for per academic year is $20,500\u00a0for graduate students. Interest must be paid or capitalized by the student from the date the loan is disbursed. Payment begins six months after the student graduates or drops below half-time status.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sunypoly.edu\/admissions\/financial-aid\/loans\/federal-direct-graduate-plus-loan.html\">Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan<\/a><br \/>\n<\/b>Upon credit approval, graduate students are eligible to borrow under the Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan Program up to their cost of attendance minus other estimated financial assistance. Applicants for these loans are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and must have applied for their annual loan maximum eligibility under the Federal Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loan Program before applying for a Graduate PLUS Loan. Interest must be paid or capitalized by the student from the date the loan is disbursed. Repayment of the loan begins within 60 days of the last disbursement of the funds unless a borrower contacts direct lending to arrange a deferment or forbearance.<\/p>\n<p><b>Loan Consolidation<br \/>\n<\/b>You may want to consider consolidating your loans to simplify repayment. By consolidating your loans, you will make only one monthly payment to cover all of your loans.
