Undergraduate Nursing Writing Sample

Applicants to the BS/MS Nursing program must provide a writing sample. The admissions committee will use this to assess writing ability, analytic skill and knowledge of the advanced practice nurse’s role. Writing samples will be reviewed for both content and construction.

Writing Sample
Prepare a writing sample that responds to the following: 1. Identify your intended nursing program. 2. Describe how your professional experiences to date have prepared you for study at SUNY Poly and for your intended professional role upon completion of the program. 3. Describe your plans to alter your professional an/or personal obligations to have the time needed for graduate study including the required clinical experiences. 4. Identify one significant contemporary issue/problem in the United States health care system and explore how members of your intended advanced practice role can help address the issue or solve the problem.
